When should you upscale an image?
Upscaling is useful when the image you have is smaller than the layout you need. The source still matters: start with the cleanest, least-compressed copy available.
Small web images
Enlarge an older web image for a modern page, presentation, or social post. Compression blocks and halos in the source may also become easier to see, so inspect the result closely.
Use the least-compressed source you can find.
Product photos & artwork
Create a larger working copy for a product page, portfolio, or mockup. Check logos, fine type, straight edges, and repeating patterns after processing.
Keep original vector files when they exist.
Print preparation
More pixels can raise the effective PPI at a chosen print size. It does not decide whether the file is print-ready; viewing distance, paper, sharpening, and the printer still matter.

What does 2× image upscaling change?
The scale factor applies to each dimension. It changes the pixel count and possible display size, but it cannot reveal detail that was never visible in the source.
- Dimensions
- Width and height both double. For example, 800 × 600 becomes 1600 × 1200 pixels.
- Total pixels
- Doubling both dimensions creates four times as many pixels: 480,000 pixels become 1,920,000.
- Print density
- At the same print size, 2× dimensions double the PPI. A 1200-pixel edge printed at 8 inches is 150 PPI; 2400 pixels at 8 inches is 300 PPI.
Bigger pixels still need a careful review.
AI upscaling estimates plausible texture and edges. It can improve how a small image holds up at a larger size, but it does not recover a hidden original or guarantee a lossless result.
- Inspect eyes, teeth, hair, fingers, and other recognizable features.
- Zoom in on lettering, logos, railings, branches, and repeating patterns.
- Watch for halos, waxy texture, invented marks, and excessive sharpening.
For archival records, evidence, exact typography, or brand artwork, compare against the source and use the original file as the authoritative version.
What happens to an image you upscale?
Your image is stored privately for processing and sent to our image-processing provider through KIE. Upscaling does not happen entirely on your device.

- Enpix does not publish uploads in a public gallery or use them to train its own models. Provider handling follows their separate policies.
- 7-day access
- Submitted originals, results, and related task data remain accessible for 7 days from task creation. Unused uploads are scheduled for removal after 24 hours.
- Download your result
- Save the upscaled copy before access expires. Signed-in task history helps locate recent results, but it is not permanent file storage.
